My concentration on creating jobs for those in poverty will have the biggest effect on crime.

The alleviation of poverty is the single most important thing City Hall should be working on as it affects virtually every aspect or our community.  The Brookings Institute has discovered that Rochester has the third highest percentage of poverty in the nation.  This is unacceptable. And a study by the U.S. Government Accountability Office released in 2007 shows that there is a link between crime and poverty.If we want to do more than just harass criminals we need to find ways to fight poverty and the best way to do this is jobs. My aggressive programs of small business creation, home rehabilitation, and student summer jobs will make a sizable dent upon the poverty rate in our city, reducing crime.
